RHIANNON HOOVER is an ACTOR turned MAKEUP ARTIST based in Toronto, Canada.
Hi! My name is Rhiannon (she/they) and I am the definition of a multidisciplinary artist. I graduated from the Honours Bachelor of Music Theatre Performance program at Sheridan College where I studied the elements of dance, music, acting and directing. I have a background in makeup, writing, drag performance and creative directing amongst many other things. I also have a passion for scholarly research as it pertains to musical theatre history.
I have been obsessed with makeup from a very young age, watching countless beauty videos on YouTube and feeling inspired to explore my own creativity. It was only natural that after graduating from Sheridan College, I decided to pursue my love for makeup. I graduated with a Complete Makeup Artist Diploma from CMU College of Makeup Art and Design located downtown Toronto. I developed a wide range of skills including Bridal, Fashion, Theatrical, Film & TV, Special Effects, Prosthetics, and Hairstyling.
Since then, I have continued enhancing my skills as an artist at MAC Cosmetics and Toronto beauty studios, in addition to being a freelance makeup artist. I’ve worked with local Toronto designers, photographers, brands, actors and musicians on campaigns, events, fashion shows, music videos, short films, and more. I plan to continue exploring the worlds of Bridal, Film & TV and being a Celebrity MUA makeup-wise, while also pursuing my acting endeavors.
Aside form makeup and acting, you can also find me performing under the stage name LADY NOVA, the live-singing superstar Drag Queen of Toronto.
The majority of my work as an artist, activist and educator is centered around anti-racism and anti-oppression. I am committed to sharing my perspective and knowledge in hopes that my work will have a positive impact within our community. My goal as a makeup artist is to use my skills to empower others in the way makeup has liberated me.
